As we head into the last months of the year, the party season undoubtedly comes to mind. Warm summer evenings filled with celebrations, indulgent meals and one too many drinks, coupled with late nights and more makeup than usual can lead to an unhappy skin. You may find it looks a bit dull and tired and you may even experience dark circles and puffiness around the eye area.

skinPhD recommends the following tips to keep your skin afloat during the party season:

Stay hydrated

Warm weather, salty foods and alcoholic drinks can cause major dehydration, which shows on the skin. Make sure you drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your skin and body sufficiently hydrated. Top tip: Drink one full glass of water in-between alcoholic beverages to keep hydration levels up.

Don’t forget your SPF
A broad spectrum sunscreen isn’t just for when you’re lazing on the beach – it’s an essential part of your daily skincare routine. Apply it diligently throughout the day to ensure you protect yourself from harmful UV rays that cause sunburn and signs of ageing.

Spend some extra time on your skin

When you’re putting your skin through stress, take some time to indulge in a home face mask or treat yourself to a facial. Some TLC goes a long way in calming and nourishing the complexion.

Cleanse correctly

No matter how tired you are or how late your night was, do not EVER go to bed with your makeup still on. Take two minutes to remove all traces of makeup and cleanse your skin – this will make a major difference to the health and appearance of your skin!

Go makeup-free when possible

With so many functions and parties happening, chances are you’ll be wearing makeup more frequently than usual, but take whatever opportunity you can to give your skin a break and go makeup-free. This gives your skin a chance to breathe and recover.

Don’t forget about your eyes

The eye area is the first part of the face to show signs of fatigue. An unhealthy lifestyle, albeit a temporary one, will leave you with dark circles, puffiness and a sunken appearance. Invest in a good quality eye cream that offers long lasting hydration. We recommend skinPhD’s Ultra Hydrating Eye Gel.

skinPhD PauseAge Ultra Hydrating Eye Gel is an easily absorbed, hydrating gel formulated to address problems commonly experienced around the delicate eye area. It noticeably reduces dark circles and puffiness around the eyes and helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

Regular use will help to improve skin brightness and tone as well as a youthful looking appearance.

Apply a small amount of Ultra Hydrating Eye Gel around the eye area twice a day after cleansing and toning.
